Base Information

Platinum DK:

75% Superwash Merino Wool/25% Nylon

225m per 100g

Gauge: 4mm - 22sts & 28 rows

WPI: 18

The fabric is really soft but robust and pill resistant, making it wonderful for baby and children’s clothing, of course sweaters and accessories are awesome in this yarn. We used a 4mm needle for this but a 3.75mm would also work well.

Platinum Sock/4 ply:

75% Superwash Merino Wool/25% Nylon

425m per 100g

Gauge: 2.5mm - 36sts & 50 rows

WPI: 24

This base takes colour beautifully and knits into socks creating a soft even fabric. Not only just for socks, but this would also work for hard wearing but yet soft garments.

Suri Silk Cloud:

74% Baby Suri Alpaca

26% Mulberry Silk

300m per 50g

Gauge: 3.25mm - 26sts & 36 rows

WPI: 20

The fabric is super soft once knitted with a delicate halo, this also works really nicely as a stranding yarn with other bases.

Thick n Thin Chunky:

100% Superwash Merino

100m per 100g skein

Suggested 6mm needles to obtain gauge

Washed gauge in stocking stitch 14sts and 23 rows over 10cm/4”

WPI: 8

This would work as a weft.

This yarn is lovely to dye with. It’s a soft roving yarn with undulating thick and thin sections, the thicker sections are spun looser than the thin ones. It results in a soft gently textured fabric. This yarn takes the dye really well, and Speckles also work well on this yarn. This yarn is perfect for quick-knit hats and accessories and would make super fun chunky sweaters.

Gold Chunky Singles:

80% Superwash Merino Wool

20% Nylon

70m per 100g

Gauge: 7mm - 12sts & 18 rows

WPI: 9

The yarn sucks up dye and colours appear bright. It’s a super quick knit as well so it’s great for gift knitting and makes SUPERB hats. The resulting fabric looks really nice with a great stitch definition. The nylon in this yarn gives the singles construction extra strength.
